Stop Making Those Silly Business Mistakes

I am an absolute shopaholic. I spend a lot of time patronizing literally every type of business under the sun. As an avid consumer, I believe that I have advice that I can give businesses that can help them become more successful and serve there customers better. Even though I am the only one working on this blog, much of what I write comes from endless conversations with friends and family members who have experienced frustrations when patronizing businesses, big and small. My name is Alice Stark and I hope you enjoy the journey that we will be going on together!

Home Business: Take Control of Your Own Life

Business Blog

Sick of getting fired all the time because you put your children and your family first? What about God? You would be surprised how many businesses will fire you because you refuse to work during days of worship. When your life and career collide, and your career really was not going anywhere anyway, it is time to take control. Online home business opportunities are the way to go, but there are a few things you need to do first.

Understand the Importance of Goals and Self-Discipline

The best online home business opportunity means nothing if you do not set goals and have excellent self-discipline. These habits are key to starting your own home business where the only person doing the work is you. Nobody else is going to do the work for you and then give you all the money. That is not only unrealistic, but it also borders on being a Ponzi scheme. If you know you can set and meet goals for the amount of money you want and need, and you know you have self-discipline in spades, then by all means, go for it.

Set up a Very Quiet Work Space

Even authors have a home office where they can go, shut the doors, and just think while they write. Trying to operate any home business in your living room, den, kitchen, or bedroom is just not going to work. These are areas where other family members go to relax, listen to music, watch TV, and so forth. They are not about to leave these rooms when they were able to access them before.

Even a bedroom is not a good idea. Your brain needs to associate your bedroom with sleep, not work. A guest bedroom works great. Convert it to office space, and use it as such.

Create a Daily Schedule and Stick to It

Do not work past the time you said you were going to quit each day. You can shake things up by taking regular breaks to do other things around the house, but make sure you are done with work at your set time. If you did not reach your daily monetary goal, you may just have to work a longer day tomorrow.

Only go back to your desk after the kids are in bed. Even then, make the extra time short and sweet, just enough to reach your daily monetary goal. This is all part of taking control of your own life.
